Kalen Coe.
The enthusiast of literally anything you could possibly fucking think of. From surfing Ocean Beach, dirt biking sketchy trails, working on cars, snowboarding when powder arrives, and being a killer with a camera, Kalen does it all.
In the last several years, Kalen has added film and photography to his repertoire. Not only does Kalen capture the beauty behind his own extreme hobbies, Kalen also uses film/photography outlets to capture the beauty behind mundane everyday life. One of Kalen’s highlights when it comes to capturing life through lenses is through capturing cultures outside his own. From LA lowrider conventions, young and upcoming rock band concerts, and traditional dances in Africa, Kalen prioritizes stepping into different cultural settings that encapsulate stories filled with their own emotions.

Along with continuing his own personal portfolio, Kalen hopes to pursue a career within film and photography. Already starting his own brand, Kona Productions, Kalen is also beginning to get bigger freelancing jobs through commercial gigs. With no plan of slowing down, Kalen plans to progress his skills and branding, in hopes of having a bigger platform in the future to fully express not only himself, but the world around him.
Kalen has been a huge help with creative work and content with The Kiind since the beginning. His editing/ skills, taste through aesthetics, and overall lifestyle fits perfectly with our core values as a brand. We hope to continue working alongside him and are excited to see what his path evolves into.
Check out more of his work and make sure to follow one of the coolest mf you’ll ever meet.
Interview.
What inspires your work/who?
“I think ART is what inspires me. ART is within every aspect of your life, from the way the leaves blow to someone physically painting. We get aspects of ART within everything. So when I have a camera in my hand it's almost like I'm one of the leaves blowing in the wind or I'm that painter and my paint brush is my camera.”
When did you start getting more serious with film/photography?
“I've always messed around with cameras and editing since I was young, from making little videos about sneakers and vlogs. Funny to look back at but I've always loved creating my own work. But when I got to highschool I kinda stopped all that until my very last semester of highschool. During my last semester I picked up the camera again and from that point on I havent put it down.”
What has been your personal favorite project so far?
“My favorite projects to work on consists of music/fashion shoots. But have also done some other cool work for 805 and Hot Rod Garage TV show, which has been super cool and a pleasure to work on.”
Do you have any bigger projects in the future that you would want to work on?
“It's not that there are bigger projects. I want to work on it more about my job on the projects. What I mean is that I want to be more in control of the projects as a director or dp for some of the bigger stuff I've been on."
